Our Beliefs

  • The one true God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
  • The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
  • The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image and made to have a relationship with God, rule creation, represent God and reproduce; yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
  • The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating death and evil, so reconciling us with God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Savior of the world.
  • The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
  • The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
  • The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers – given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, bringing God’s will in heaven to earth.
  • The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfill the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.

Our Core Values

We want each person in the church to not just change religions or respond to and altar call, but to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Unless a person is born again they cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Too many people just change religions or add Jesus to their religion or philosophy. Like John the Baptist, Jesus and the apostles, we preach repentance – believe the Good News, turn from your wicked ways and start to follow Jesus. Our desire is for them to be pricked in their heart and understand they really need a savior. We often use God’s Law which was “given to us as a tutor to bring us to Christ”.

We seek God’s pattern in the Word for all we do. We preach from the Bible and teach from the Bible. It is imperative to get a Bible into the hands of every believer and to help them begin the habit of not only reading it, but obeying it every day.

We follow King David’s pattern of worship – we dance, shout, kneel, bow and express our worship through our emotions. We place a high value on the presence of God in the church worship experience as we build a throne for Jesus Christ to dwell on and we create an atmosphere for Him to do what He pleases among us. We also believe in using both contemporary Christian music as well as traditional Cambodian music in their appropriate places. We believe Biblical principles of worship supercede cultural traditions.

Disciples are Christians who have committed themselves to follow the Lord Jesus and have changed their lifestyle to do so. Disciples are made in small groups. Our goal in making disciples is not to oversee every detail of their life, but to show them that they can know Jesus, apply the Bible to their life and problems, tell others about Jesus and make more disciples. “A disciple is not a disciple until he or she is making disciples.”

All of our churches are church-planting churches. Our intent in every place is to build a strong base which can reach out to surrounding villages and cities. We intend to start churches in every province in Cambodia. Each independent church will have the same foundation and philosophy.

We must emphasize holiness, honesty, morality and personal purity in every human relationship. We must emphasize this again and again and again using every method.

We want to see what the Father is doing. Jesus followed the leading of the Father. We encourage the members of our church to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and to be filled with the Holy Spirit daily, seeking His guidance in everything we do. Our victory and success as Christians and as a church is by having a daily relationship with the Holy Spirit.

God wants to do wonderful things in our life, however, we receive all by faith. True faith is active faith–it believes with the heart, confesses with the mouth, and obeys. We believe we must persevere in faith until the answer is manifest. We live by faith, not by sight or emotions. In this is our victory.

God is full of grace. He doesn’t punish us or give us what we deserve. He is patient and forbearing. We do not obtain God’s blessings or salvation by works or good deeds of any kind. We receive all freely from God.

The Christian life is a life of sacrifice. We sacrifice our time, our money and even our life if necessary for the Kingdom of God. However, we believe in balance and not reckless living with no though for the future.

We are committed to relationships with others. We must maintain open relationships, which involves tactful honesty and forgiveness. We must teach forgiveness and constantly encourage others to forgive as Jesus has forgiven us. This major stronghold in Cambodia that cannot be overlooked.

We have no intent of “taking over” Cambodia; however, we feel God has called Christians to influence Cambodian society in the following areas: religion; education; entertainment; government; social relationships. Our church programs, training and discipleship work toward that end.

Christians are winners. We live above the circumstances, not below them. We are the head and not the tail. We change circumstances by God’s Word, faith and perseverance. We do nut grumble or complain about our situation, but find God’s grace and victory in the midst of that situation. Jesus desires to live His victorious life through us. We endeavor to allow Jesus to manifest Himself in us.

We believe speaking in unlearned tongues is an evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and is vital in our relationship with Christ and successful Christian living. We teach it, preach it, pray for people to receive it and encourage every member of our church and staff to speak in tongues daily.

We believe we have a Scriptural Mandate to not only minister to the spirit of mankind in salvation, but also to the soul and body. This would include education, mental health, and physical health in what is commonly called “holistic ministry”.

The sick and frail women received their healing during our crusades https://dev.nlfcambodia.org/sick-and-frail-woman-received-her-healing-during-our-crusades/ https://dev.nlfcambodia.org/sick-and-frail-woman-received-her-healing-during-our-crusades/#respond Wed, 26 Jul 2023 06:02:01 +0000 https://dev.nlfcambodia.org/?p=17657

“Miracles and Salvations broke out in a village during one of NLF’s evangelical crusades in Prey Veng Province, Southeastern Cambodia”

Last week, our evangelical mission teams conducted two night crusade in Prey Veng Province located in Southeastern Cambodia. Even though the weather was very cloudy with a chance of rain, the team had faith and prayed against the upcoming possibility of rain. Miraculously, it rained in other areas but not the place where the crusade took place. We really thank God for his protection. There were about 700 villagers who showed up at the crusade. One hundred of them gave their lives to Jesus! We witnessed many miracles and salvations and God revealed His power in this village in which superstitious rituals were common.

A young, sick, and frail woman with manifold sicknesses came to the crusade and received some prayers. She accepted the Lord that night and got healed.

After she was healed, she told us that she had been sick for half a year, had had cyst surgeries on her neck and her breasts. After the operations, she started to have a hard time eating, began experiencing cramps, difficulty moving around, was unable to squat, and could hardly swallow water.

She did not know Jesus before. Once she stood in the altar call praying area, she felt something different. She began to sweat with said she feel better like something was leaving her. One of our prayer team members reported seeing her facial expressions with sadness, hopelessness, and lifelessness. Because of her superstitious rituals, one can assume that demonic strongholds had been tormenting her life.

The next day, our team came to visit her house asking her about her experience in her new life. With a friendly welcoming heart, she smiled and told everything wholeheartedly. With joy and excitement, she gave glory to God for what God did in her life that evening. Now she can move, squat, eat, go to the bathroom, and drink fine.

After seeing this amazing thing that happened to his wife, her husband agreed to invite our team to come remove all the spiritual altars, and destroy many other ritual items in their house.

Mark 5:34 “He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

A young woman recently migrated to Phnom Penh received Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was set free from many demons

This young woman, about 25 years old, came to Phnom Penh city to look for a job. She is very new to the city. She then made a friendship with a Christian friend. They both become very good friends. She came to the church service on Sunday morning and it was her first time.

At the end of the church service, she came up front to the altar call to meet our prayer team. As soon as they laid hands on her and began to pray, she began to weep, and she admitted that her life was coming to the end, no hope to live any longer. She said that she had been hurt by many people including people who are close to her. She said the struggles she had been bearing was so serious that she began to be negatively affected psychologically. She said that someone cast a spell on her. Since then, she had been sick all the time. In respond to the spell, she had sought different traditional healers to help relieve the spells but her situation got even worst.

During the prayers, she asked to have her Takrut (Waist amulet), worn in her waist for protected power, cut off. Our prayer team member described that once the amulet was cut off, it released very putrid smells. She then fell on the floor and noticed that she was demon possessed. Our prayer team started to pray over her casting out demons who had dwelled in her. Many bad spirits came out in the forms of yelling voice. Some bad spirit’s voice claimed that they had dwelled in her family generation. They even attempted to attack one of our prayer team member.

We thank God for the power and healing for this young girl. It took our prayer team almost 4 hours to cast out all the demons, and release the power of the healing of God for this young lady. As she woke up, she felt relieved and refreshed. She told us that the night before she came to church, she had a dream. In her dream, she saw some shining people standing with some lighting glows surrounding on their heads, and she finally arrived in front of a cross.

Mark 16:17 “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues” “

she decided to confront her father during the ancestor holiday.

Theary , one of our intern volunteers, shared her confrontation with her father during the recent ancestor holidays, Pchum Ben.

Some of you might know and some of you might not know much about the holidays that were held last week. It is called Pchum Ben Days, the time when Khmer people follow their rituals at Buddhist temples. They bring over food, and gifts to the temple believing that those things will be transferred to the in spiritual world to their ancestors. It is also believed that their deceased parents or relatives’s spirits locked up in hell are released for the first 15 days of the dark moon in order for them to come to get food because they are hungry. At 4 AM in the morning during these days, they prepare balls of sticky rice on trays for their nearby temples. People gather there to listen to monks chanting and invite the spirit to come, then they start to scatter the food around the temple building.

During this time, children are supposed to help their parents carry food to the temple to offer to Buddhist monks. Out in a community village, there is social pressure if you don’t do it. Theary who chose Jesus a few years ago, had faced this sort of pressure when she did not want to comply with doing the ritual. Every year, her father kept talking negatively about Christianity, he disliked the fact that his daughter chose to follow Jesus.  Theary felt emotionally disturbed and rejected because she loves her parents, and her family but she doesn’t want to come against her conviction either.

She told us that she had been praying about her visit to her parents during this holiday, and hoped that her parents would not force her to practice any rituals. Unlike a few years before, this year her father seemed to be different. He did not pressure her to do anything, but accepted her presence when she paid the visit. Theary really thanked God for allowing her to be able to spend time with her family, and set aside those rituals.

In Khmer society, religious discrimination can still be seen. To be a Christian means a big sacrifice in life. one has to be ready to accept rejection not only among their peers, but also among their family members. It is just like what the Bible talks about carrying the cross. You have to be ready to be denied by people you love. Yet, when we obey, and embrace His Love, we will gain more.

In Theary’s story , we saw that her prayers really softened her father’s heart. She believes that sooner or later, her father and other members in the family will come and be saved like her.

One Man’s miraculous recovery https://dev.nlfcambodia.org/one-mans-miraculous-recovery/ https://dev.nlfcambodia.org/one-mans-miraculous-recovery/#respond Wed, 26 Jul 2023 05:45:22 +0000 https://dev.nlfcambodia.org/?p=17640

Today, our evangelist team has a great story to share with all of us. They recently went out to a remote village in Kratie province. Despite the long distance, and the condition of the village road, they managed to access this area and meet a family whose teenage son was in his wheelchair following a serious accident a year ago.

Mr. Chetra, about 21, lives in Ajen village, Kratie , and had a motor accident last year. He was in hospital for almost three months. He then was discharged unrecovered because his family could no longer afford to keep him there. His dream fading away, he did nothing, and sat idly in his wheelchair. Then, he experienced a life changing miracle following the visit of an evangelical team who prayed for him. Hope now blossomed anew with Chetra acceptance of Jesus Christ. He began to move, then walked, and his optimism for his future grew rapidly. He is now a man fully optimistic about his future.

Mark 9:23 ‘If you can, said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

33 people water-baptized this Sunday. We talked to one of them and asked her how she came to her new faith in the Lord, Jesus.

Obsessed with being perfect, 22 year-old, Noch had lived a lonely life, which was both meaningless and insecure. Stubborn, she preferred her own way, what rather than considering others and compromising her desires. Then she met a group of Christians who welcomed and accepted her, and invited her to go on a trip with them. The members genuinely cared for, and loved one another, which was not Noch experienced with Christians previously. These Christians were a truly harmonious group.

It was with great excitement that Noch experienced water-baptism along with many others. Now filled with joy, she began taking classes in English, attending church services, and making many Christian friends. Her life has undergone dramatic changes which have greatly influence her relationship with others.

Just about two weeks ago, Roseka and her mom invited some pastors and leaders from New Life to their home to remove all the spirit house from their home.
